Should you die in service a death grant equal to three times your annual pensionable pay will be paid in respect of your current employment.

Changes to the Scheme’s governing regulations made through the LGPS Regulations 2013 (in England and Wales) and the LGPS (Scotland) Regulations 2014, state that where multiple death grants are potentially payable following a death in service, only the higher of the death in service death grant(s) or the death grants(s) in respect of a LGPS pension and/or a LGPS deferred pension is payable to a member’s beneficiary(ies).
